I am a postdoctoral researcher in Sociology at the University of California- Berkeley.

I am interested in becoming processes at the intersections of migration, racialization, culture, and place. My current work explores the role of emotions in the persistence of ethnicity. In my PhD research, I studied the roots-seeking projects of second-plus generation Chinese Americans, exploring the role of emotions in racialized belonging.

More broadly, I am interested in how immigration and immigrant identities shape and are shaped by projected futures and imagined pasts. Prior to this, I was Director of Research at INCITE, where I managed REALM, a multi-center research program on labor migration to the GCC.

I received my PhD in Sociology from Columbia University, an M.Phil in Sociology and Demography from Oxford University in 2016, and a B.A. in Social Research and Public Policy from NYU Abu Dhabi in 2014.
